Obituary for Anne "Agnes" Ferguson

Anne (Hanna) Ferguson (July 25, 1940 to March 21, 2022)

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear mother Anne (Hanna) Ferguson at the age of 81.
Mom was a simple and kind individual who valued family and friends above all. Mom never had an easy life however did all she could to put her children first and for this we will be eternally grateful. We will forever miss her especially our regular visits and daily phone calls.
Though in recent years her health declined and getting out became more of a challenge she still maintained her lasting relationships with many of her long-term friends by phone. Prior to her decline in health mom was active and could be found having coffee or lunch with friends at a variety of restaurants in the community. In her earlier years she enjoyed her travels to the U.S. as well as attending dances and various celebrations. Prior to our dad’s death mom and him spent endless hours together and could often be seen out and about town. Mom was a proud member of the Slovak Legion and embraced her Slovak heritage and her roots to the East End of the city. Mom was also extremely proud that at the age of 81 she had no grey hair, a fact she often shared.
Mom was a long-time employee of Thunder Bay telephone and was extremely proud of the fact that the day she retired was the same day of the birth of her first grand child Connor. She was a very proud grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Connor, Ella and Oliver.
She was predeceased by her husband Gary, her parents Ladislav & Clementine, brothers Hipolit, Ladislav and sisters Mildred, Margie and grandson Zachary Marsh.
Anne is survived and lovingly remembered by her son Gary Jr. (Lesley), daughter Joanne (Marvin) Kuitunen, grandchildren Connor, Ella and Oliver.
We would like to thank all the doctors, nursing and support staff at St Joe's that assisted Mom in her final days.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, when family and friends will gather in St. Peter’s R.C. Church for Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 am, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Arockiam. Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Blake Funeral Chapel, 200 May Street South, with Vigil Prayers being offered at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to The Salvation Army Journey to Life Centre Thunder Bay.
