Obituary for Antonio Foglia

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Antonio Foglia announce his passing on the morning of December 29th, 2022 with his wife Stefanina by his side.
Tony was loved and respected by everyone he knew. He had a heart of gold and was always kind, honest and humble to the very end. Tony spent his life with his adoring wife Stefanina by his side and raised two incredible children, Dominic and Vincenzo. He recently became a grandfather to his grandson, his pride and joy, Franky.
Tony enjoyed spending time with his wife in their garden in the summer. He loved his best friend and sidekick Zeus, the family dog. He was an avid soccer fan and always had a game playing on the TV, especially his hometown team SSC Napoli that he watched with Zeus every weekend. When he immigrated to Canada he took up hunting and fishing with his brother Carmine.
Tony always did everything he could to make sure his family had everything they needed and could never say no to either of his sons. He was able to bring his sons back home to Italy on a number of occasions and taught them to always work hard and be kind. We know he was looking forward to being just as amazing of a Nonno to Franky as he was to his own children as his love for them was immeasurable.
At the age of 18, Tony served for the Italian military for 18 months before deciding to provide a better life for his family by moving overseas. When Tony left his hometown of Tufino, Italy in 1971 to come to Canada he started his journey here in Thunder Bay by working construction before becoming a loyal employee of Abitibi Price for 29 years. Tony earned a well-deserved retirement in 2006 and was able to spend time with his wife, children and friends as often as he could. Tony loved telling stories about his adventures and experiences throughout the years and his love for sharing his tales with family and friends will be greatly missed among many other wonderful qualities he had.
Tony’s passing will leave a massive void in the hearts of his many family members, friends and acquaintances. He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Stefanina Foglia (Alaia), children Dominic Foglia and partner Kelsi Britton, Vincenzo Foglia and wife Isabella (Muia) as well as their son Franky. The oldest of his siblings, Tony leaves behind Carmine (Maria) and his niece Felicia, Angelo (Nicolina), Lorenzina (Pasquale), and Anna Marie along with his sister in-law Anna Monteforte (Luigi) and brother in-law Giuseppe Alaia (Antoinetta) along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Antonio will be joining in heaven his father Dominico Foglia, mother Felicia Foglia (Perna), father in-law Vincenzo Alaia, and mother-in-law Nunzia Alaia (Porcelli).
Tony’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and thanks for the hard work, care and compassion of the nurses, doctors and additional staff in the ICU at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre these last few weeks. Funeral Mass for Tony will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Dominic’s Church, celebrated by Rev. Michael Mahoney. Visitation will be held in the church one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tony’s honour to the Diabetes Association or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
