Obituary for Carmel Fournier

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Carmel Fournier (Furlotte) at age 86 on October 17th, peacefully surrounded by family at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Jacket River, New Brunswick where she lived until she married Nazaire Fournier (deceased) and together they moved to Thunder Bay in 1957, and again to Caramat, Ontario in 1960. Carmel was always taking care of her children, family, and working at the local Texaco. After many years, she worked for Milepost Catering as a cook for over 20 years. In 2002, she moved back to Thunder Bay for retirement and to be closer to relatives. She loved to cook, not only as a career, but also for her family and often had large gatherings with them and friends at her home or on the lake whether it was frozen or not. She enjoyed camping, sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, live music, and anything that had to do with the beauty of nature, but most of all, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered as a mild, kind, and generous person always willing to help everyone and dearly missed by her children Mary Fournier, Ralph Fournier, and Lorraine Daigle (Gilles Daigle). Her grandchildren, Allan Fournier, Paul Fournier, Michelle Murray (Jonathan Murray), Danielle Daigle, and her great-grandchildren, Nathan Fournier, Ashley Fournier, Grace Daigle, Adrianna Daigle, Isabelle Murray and Isaiah Murray, her sister-in-law Shirley Furlotte, her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and all her dear friends whom she missed and spoke of often. Carmel is predeceased by her mother, Stella Bernard and her father, Pierre Furlotte, her son Roland Fournier (2022), husband Nazaire Fournier (2005), her brothers Lloyd and Owen Furlotte, and her sisters, Yvon Gobel and Myrtle Taylor. The funeral Mass will be held at Kitchitwa Kateri Church, 451 North Syndicate Ave November 2nd, 2022, at 1:00pm presided over by Fr, G. McDougall. Flowers, prayers, bouquets are welcome, and donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
