Obituary for Celeste "Sally" Bragnalo

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Sally Bragnalo, age 89, on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 with family by her side at TBRHSC. Auntie Sally was born in Fort William on May 19, 1932. She was the fifth of twelve children and lived her entire life in the family home in the East End. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, love of friends and absolute devotion to her huge extended family. After her mother died in 1967, she cared for her father while continuing the tradition of hosting “The Coffee Club” every Sunday morning after Mass. “The Coffee Club” consisted of her many siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews. We were treated to coffee and toast, cold cuts and cheeses, often cutlets and meatballs with and without spaghetti sauce. Everyone raved about her meatballs. A Sunday never went by without her fabulous baking as well. Auntie Sally worked at Buset Chartered Accountants well into her late 60’s. She graciously did income tax returns for family and friends until the age of 88. For many years she and her sister-in-law Dina coordinated the annual Bragnalo picnic at Vickers Heights Community Centre. She looked forward to this all year and had a blast handing out the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons during the races. Sally is survived by sister Rita Lapointe (Walkerton, ON), brother Ronald, sisters-in-law Mary Ann, Julie and Luba as well as 27 nieces and nephews, 37 great nieces and nephews, 35 great-great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. She is predeceased by her parents Romildo and Serafina (Scavarelli), sisters Florence (John) Witiw and Regina (Allan) Frost, brothers Fred (Mary) Leslie, Frankie (Angela), Romildo Jr. (Dina), Angelo and Arnold, brother-in-law Ken Lapointe, nephew Kenny (Terri) Bragnalo, niece Karen (Wayne) Faires, great nieces Carly Bragnalo and Suzanne Lacaria, dear friend Edna Bailey and special cousin Marie Covino. Sally has requested a private family funeral which will be held at St. Peter’s R.C. Church on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11:00 am celebrated by Father Joseph Arockiam. Auntie Sally was a smart strong and assertive woman who was truly the heart and soul of our family. She will live on through the imprints she has made on our lives and the people she brought together. Her life is something to celebrate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada or the Dew Drop Inn.
