Obituary for Christopher Wright

CHRISTOPHER R. WRIGHT
1943 - 2022

Chris, the fourth child born to William and Helen Wright, was born on 21st Oct. 1943 in Chapleau, ON. He and his siblings grew up on CPR School Car 2, where their father taught. Chris developed a life-long interest in reading and in building things with his brother’s Meccano set. The early interest in building led to his work for 43 years as a draftsman at the paper mill in Red Rock. Other interests developed during his life - gardening, curling, golfing and baseball - but his talents and skills with photography and woodworking were at a masterful level.

From his parents, Chris learned to be a patient, gentle soul who was well-spoken, knowledgeable and well-respected. He was particularly known for his wry sense of humour, and for the kindness, and respect he had for everyone.

Chris passed away on 28 Oct. 2022 at the age of 79. He leaves behind Laurie, his wife of 49 years, brother Harvey Wright, sisters Shirley Little and Nancy Reynolds, brother- in-law Donald Hrynyk, sister-in-law Patricia Long, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews in Canada, the U.S. and in England. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers-in-law Bill Little and Tony Reynolds, sister-in-law Jean Wright, and by his niece Judy Brown.

The family wishes to express our deep appreciation for the care and compassion of the Doctors and Nurses of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and of the Regional Cancer Centre, in Thunder Bay.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service. Those wishing to honour Chris may make donations to the Salvation Army; the Northern Cancer Fund, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation; the Charity of your choice; or you are asked to greet anyone you meet with the same gentle smile and welcoming greeting Chris would have shared.
