Obituary for Helen Tochynski
Helen Elizabeth Tochynski 1932 – 2022
Helen Elizabeth Tochynski (Dovick) passed away peacefully at Hogarth Riverview Manor on Friday, December 31, 2022 at the age of 90. Helen was born in the City of Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) on May 2, 1932 to Josephine and Martin Dovick. In 1949 she married Charles Tochynski and together they built their family home at 2608 Chestnut Street.
Helen enjoyed the early part of her life raising her two sons, Charles and Gerard. In addition, she spent many pleasurable days helping her parents operate the family business, Dovick & Sons Market Gardens, better known as “The Farm”. Helen loved working outdoors in the flower gardens; her home always had a colorful array of annuals on the exterior walkways to welcome anyone who came to visit. Family and friends where an intricate part of Helen’s life and she hosted many dinners and special occasions. Anyone who knew her appreciated her outlook on life. She was kind, patient, loving and rarely complained even though she was a three time cancer survivor.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1990; her infant son Bernard in 1952; parents Josephine and Martin Dovick, brothers John and Bruno Dovick, and sister Jenny Kuluski.
As per her request, a private funeral was held at Blake Funeral Chapel with Rev.Monsigner Stilla officiating. Following that, Helen was cremated. Interment of the ashes will take place at St. Andrews Cemetery at a later date.
