Obituary for John Bouchard

With deep sadness the family of John Francis Bouchard (63) would like to announce his passing on Sunday, October 9, 2022. He died peacefully at home with his wife, Renata at his side, after a brave battle to cancer.

John is predeceased by his parents Gladys Bouchard and Aime Tremblay, his brothers Maurice and Pierre, his sister Collette Morse; also predeceased by his mother-in-law Bernadette, sister-in-law Rachel and her husband Alex.

He is survived by his wife Renata of 38 years and married for 27, his 2 sons, John Jr. (Traci) of Saskatchewan and Shawn of Pays Plat; his grandchildren Gavin, Denzil, Malcolm, Jaida, Austin, Madison and Brandon; great granddaughter Jayla; his sister Rita Tremblay of Montreal and brothers Bryan, Real (Paula), Myrna (Albert), Nicholas (Tobi) of Thunder Bay, Aime of Schreiber, Gerald of Pays Plat and Robert of Calgary, AB.

He is also survived by his father-in-law Roger, sister-in-law Crabby (Dave) and brother-in-law, Raphael all of Pays Plat, sisters-in-law Roanna of Sandpoint and Cheryl of Thunder Bay.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; especially his niece Val of Appleton, Wisc.

John enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a big Habs fan; he also enjoyed family card games and listening to music with some of his favorite rock bands such as Kiss and The Cars; he also loved to travel with his wife.

John is a member of Paw Gwa Sheeng (Pays Plat) where he lived most of his life. He also served on council for many years and also as Chief from 2005 to 2007. Throughout his life, John mostly worked construction, building homes and doing renovations.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the oncology staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre for the excellent care they provided to John; also to the McCausland Hospital staff in Terrace Bay and especially to the Dilico Primary Care Travelling Team.

A special thanks to Father Terry Sawchuk who came to bless John in his time of need and upon his passing.

The funeral services will take place at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church in Pays Plat on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11 am. A wake service will be held at the family home (10 River St) on Thursday, October 13, 2022 where friends may call after 1 pm. Father Terry Sawchuk will be officiating, with interment at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Cemetery in Pays Plat and following the service, there will be a feast at Pays Plat Community Hall.

Donations may be made to Parkinson’s Canada and Canadian Cancer Society in John’s memory.
