Obituary for Maurice Erickson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Maurice Valentine Erickson on Thursday August 18, 2022 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.
Maurice was born in Port Arthur on February 8, 1944 to Johanna (Laukkanen) and Roy Erickson. He was the second of three children who grew up on a farm in Murillo. He spoke often of good times growing up, the one-room schoolhouse with Mrs. Morrow, his many friends, and of course his family. He worked for Coca Cola for awhile, then on to Lakehead Newsprint where he worked for almost 38 years, retiring in 2004.
His grandchildren Valerie, Miranda, Janelle, and Brody were his greatest joy. He would watch dance recitals on facetime for hours, waiting for the girls’ turns so he could catch each dance. He attended piano recitals and swimming lessons. He was proud of all their accomplishments.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years Beverly (Dziver), daughter Karen (Bruce) Payetta, granddaughters Valerie and Janelle; son David (Stacey) Almgren, grandson Brody; daughter Shelley (Raymond) Landry, granddaughter Miranda; sister Ingrid Siciliano; brother and sister-in-law Ken and Linda Dziver. Special nieces and nephews also survive.
Maurice was predeceased by his parents, brother Fred, in-laws Mike and Phyllis Dziver (Siciliano), and brother-in-law Michael Dziver.
A Celebration Mass will be held Friday October 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, celebrated by Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. An internment at Mountainview Cemetery will follow.
Should friends desire, donations may be made in Maurice’s memory to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Dad, you will be sorrowfully missed and never forgotten.
