Obituary for Rachelle Johnson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Rachelle (Nenookaasi – Hummingbird) at the age of 36, on Tuesday December 13, 2022 after a brief illness. Rachelle is a cherished daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend but most importantly, she is a loving and dedicated Mother to her 3 children.
Being a mother was Rachelle’s greatest gift in life and her time with her children was precious to her. Rachelle was known for being “Auntie” to many children. She had a very playful nature about her that the kids gravitated to, and children had a special place in Rachelle’s heart. She always took pictures of the kids. She was a very loving, kind, generous and humble person who truly didn’t complain about things.
Rachelle was a lifetime resident of Fort William First Nation where she also worked in various capacities. Rachelle loved to work out on the land and made special friendships while working planting trees and canoe building. Rachelle also loved sports and had a passion for playing hockey and was a devoted Montreal Canadians fan.
Rachelle will be lovingly remembered by her children Jaeda, Jenna and Matthew, her Mother Rochelle Johnson, brothers Michael Johnstone (Bobbi-Jo), Timothy, Kenneth, Arthur, Norman, Alfred, Dennis, and Gerald. Sisters Michele Solomon, Carol, Emma, and Debbie and special friend Zach Pajamaki. Rachelle will also be dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Rachelle was pre-deceased by her Father Timothy Esquega, Brother Greg Johnstone, Grandparents Dorothy and Ed Comstock, George Solomon.
Funeral Services for Rachelle will be held on Monday, December 19th, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the St. Anne’s Parish. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visitation and Prayer Service will also take place at St Anne’s on Sunday December 18th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Grace Place Thunder Bay.
