Obituary for Richard Spytz

Richard Allen SPYTZ

Rick was born February 16, 1953 in Fort William, Ontario and passed away March 4, 2022 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
He started his young career with Great Lakes Forest Products both planting trees and later moving onto harvesting trees. He looked forward to his time working in the bush until the onset of mechanized logging. He moved onto various jobs (to mention a few) in Hinton, Alberta, Gibson's Resort, Upsala, a short time with McCauley & Son Sheet Metal, Triple S Transportation and Iron Range Bus Lines until his retirement.
Rick spent his summer vacations travelling; usually driving to a different destination across Canada and the U.S. and as far as Alaska and the Yukon. He wasn't a big people person but those close to him he held dear. He enjoyed taking his nieces and nephew and great niece and nephew for drives usually going for something sweet.
Chicago lived his life on his own terms and made the most of it.
Predeceased by his parents Sheila and William, sister Judy, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survived by sister Billie Jean, nieces and nephew Tammy (Neil), Jaella and Jamie (Kerri); great nephew and nieces Zachary, Devin, Kassandra and Kaitlyn; great-great nephew and niece Austin and Autumn. Also Aunts Moyra and Susan, Uncle Pete and many cousins.
There will be no service. Should family and friends wish, donations in Rick's memory can be made to Caring Hearts Cat Rescue or the charity of your choice.
Thank you to all the dedicated health care workers who helped care for Rick and allowed him to return home. Thank you also to Rick's good friend and neighbour Deb for looking after his things, especially his fur-babies and to Caring Hearts Cat Rescue for finding homes for all the fur-babies.
