Obituary for Stanislaw "Stan" Niewiero

It is with deep sadness that the family of Stanislaw (Stan) Niewiero announce his passing at the age of 96 after a lengthy illness. On April 22nd, 2022, Stan passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Stan was born in Raduń Poland on September 7th, 1925. Stan met the love of his life Wanda, and they were married in Poland on July 17th ,1965. The two of them had immigrated to Canada where they had two sons, Tom, and Richard. Stan worked at Abitibi Paper Mill until his retirement. Stan was a devoted member of St. Casmir’s Church, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as going to the Casino in the States and playing (cheating) in a game of cards that he would play for hours, but his absolute favourite past time was gardening. His garden was always pristine, and a weed would never stand a chance in his massive gardens, until his illness got the best of him.

Left to lovingly remember Stan, is his son Tom, daughter-in-law Penny and his beloved granddaughter Taya whom he cherished. Son Richard (Diana), as well as numerous other family and friends. Stan was predeceased by the love of his life of almost 54 years Wanda in 2019, parents Kazimierz and Anna. Prayers will be held at Blake’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday April 28th, 2022, at 7:00 pm with visitation from 6-8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Casmir’s Church on Friday April 29th, 2022, at 11:00 am with visitation one-hour prior. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

A special Thank you goes out to all the wonderful staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor 4 South Lilac where Stan spent the last 3 years of his life. As well to the wonderful Emergency room staff at TBRHSC and staff on 1A.
