Obituary for Wayne Hebert

Wayne Sajna Hebert
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the unexpected passing of Wayne Patrick Sajna Hebert, at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on the morning of Sunday November 7th 2021.
Wayne was born to Kenneth and Eva Hebert in Fort William, Ontario on November 7th 1961. He graduated from Selkirk High School in 1980 and in 1983 earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Lakehead University. Wayne worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources installing and checking weather- recording devices in remote locations in the mid 1980’s. Wayne was also employed by Contact North, a pioneering distance education organization where he earned the title of Chief Information Officer. His work helped thousands of people take courses previously inaccessible to them in their home communities. Wayne also served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce. He held other positions in the area of education technology, including Matawa First Nations Management from 2013 -2015.
Wayne will forever be held in the hearts of wife Susan Sajna, siblings Carol Gregal (Dave), Norman Hebert, Gail Miller (Neil), Phillip Hebert (Holly); nephews Mark Gregal and Justin Hebert and Stephen Hebert; nieces Michelle Gregal (Blain), Samantha Michaud (Paul), Faith Hebert, Raili-Ann Hebert, Elisa Hebert - Brading (pre-deceased), grand-nephew Jackson Michaud and grand-niece Ember Nixon. He will also be dearly missed by friends and family near and far, a large extended family including mother-in-law Carmel Sajna and the community of Westfort for which he was a vocal proponent. Wayne also leaves behind his precious fur baby Anastasia.
Wayne had the mind of a scientist and the soul of an artist. An avid photographer, he was greatly inspired by nature, landscapes, animals, geology, local architecture, the moon, the stars and how it all works. His sense of humor and wit were as sharp as his love of animals was deep.
Donations to New Hope Dog Rescue, Murillo Mutts Respite Refuge, Kitty Kare Thunder Bay or the animal charity of your choice, in Wayne’s memory, would be greatly appreciated. As would making someone laugh today as the world is a bit sadder for his loss.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Wayne Sajna Hebert will be held at a later date.
